The Peninsula Orchestra’s Spring Concert is significant for us as a community-oriented, amateur orchestra. Over the years, our relationship with the Congregation B’Nai Israel has enabled us to elevate our artistic platform within the Niagara Region. In the spirit of community bonding, our spring concert deepens our sense of belonging and connection within the Niagara.

We sincerely thank you for your attendance and your support.

Out of the cold concert update

George, Gus and Myra met with Karrie Porter, City Councillor for St. Catharines, who is an Employment Staff Member at Start Me Up Niagara. Karrie explained the numerous programs that Start Me Up Niagara provides to the most vulnerable citizens. Their drop-in centre where coffee and snacks are available all day and a wide variety of support services, including a nursing office and overnight beds, has over 51,000 visits per year - a vast increase from the 7,000 visits they started with a few years ago. Start Me Up Niagara also operates a separate employment advisory office where there are supports to help people on the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) become employable and to start their own small businesses. Some have been very successful..

Needless to say, the funds that we helped raise will be put to very good use in the Out of the Cold program that operates from several churches and Start Me Up Niagara headquarters. We raised $1,495.20!

Karrie thanked the orchestra many times and commented on what an excellent concert we presented. She was truly grateful for the monies that we helped to generate. She also asked if we would do another fund-raiser concert next year!
